Marching Into Festival Season

An aerial view of the University of Arizona campus during the Tucson Festival of Books.

Can you believe March 2026 is already here? For an author, March is more than just the start of spring; it’s festival season! This is the time of year when I get to step out from behind my writing desk and meet the young readers (and curious adults) who bring my stories to life.

I have some wonderfully fun and educational books to share this year. If you haven’t seen them yet, be sure to check out my newest release, A Lotl About Axolotls, and last year’s favorite, Don’t Call Me Poop! (it’s a hit with kids—who doesn’t love a bit of science-based scatology?).

The Grand Adventure at the Tucson Festival of Books

Of course, the highlight of the month is the magnificent Tucson Festival of Books (TFoB). It’s the third-largest book festival in the United States, which is pretty impressive for our “little” city of Tucson! Held during spring break on the University of Arizona Mall, the festival transforms the campus into a sprawling celebration of literacy.

I’ve had a booth at TFoB for many years under the name “Grab an Adventure by the Tale.” Over the years, our location has shifted as my booth partners and I evolved. We’ve moved from a single shared booth to a corner spot on the main road to better accommodate our growing collection of middle-grade and young adult titles.

However, we realized some of our regular customers were having trouble finding us! This year, we’ve secured a spot we are very excited about: Booth #336, located right in the Children’s Area Courtyard. We’ll be right in front of the entrance to the children’s section, so please come say hello!

Food, Wine, and Science in Oro Valley

The weekend before the big Tucson event, you can find me in Oro Valley at a slightly more intimate, but equally exciting, venue. I’ll be at the Oro Valley Spring Foodie, Art & Wine Festival on March 7 and 8 at the Oro Valley Marketplace.

You can find me at Booth #22, nestled near the corner by the children’s crafts. It’s a fantastic location for families, with plenty of activities to keep the little ones engaged. This festival is a great chance to stock up on entertaining science-based books for your summer reading list before the spring heat really kicks in. Sadly, this may be one of our last years at this specific location due to new construction at the Marketplace, so let’s make it a memorable one!

I’m looking forward to seeing many familiar faces this month. And don’t worry if you can’t make it to these two—I have a full slate of festivals coming up in April that I can’t wait to tell you about!

Keep the learning going at home! If you can’t make it to the festivals in person, you can still dive into the wonders of the natural world with my downloadable workbooks. They are perfect for keeping young minds active between school sessions: Explore the Workbook Series Here
